Role Summary
As an XR Systems Engineer at Avantis Education, you will work within the Core Development Team to help develop and enhance headsets for the ClassVR platform. You will be instrumental in the development of OS and firmware for Android, particularly for VR applications, and play a key role in advancing existing and future hardware.
Responsibilities
- Develop code and supporting tools for current and future ClassVR headsets.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and software partners on OS, system development, and platform enhancements.
- Manage time and deliverables while maintaining quality.
- Adopt and follow best practice development processes using Agile, Scrum, and Kanban frameworks.
- Translate ideas into actionable plans and deliverables.
- Prioritize and deliver against a backlog of improvements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- Proficiency in programming languages: C++, Java, Kotlin, Python.
- Experience in Android application development and/or Linux system development.
- Knowledge of code control tools such as Docker, Git.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Trello, Confluence.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a practical approach to finding solutions.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in developing VR / XR technologies.
- Familiarity with VR/XR frameworks and SDKs such as OpenXR, WebXR, Qualcomm Spaces, and Cardboard.
- Experience with Android Studio or similar development environments.
- Background in embedded systems and VR content development, particularly in education or immersive entertainment.
- Understanding of emerging technologies like haptic development, hand tracking, and visual FX.
