Research Scientist, Reinforcement Learning

Meta is seeking a Research Scientist Intern in Reinforcement Learning to help advance the field of artificial intelligence. Interns will have the opportunity to develop state-of-the-art algorithms, collaborate with top researchers, and contribute to Meta’s groundbreaking AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel reinforcement learning algorithms using deep learning techniques.
• Improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of deployed algorithms.
• Conduct cutting-edge research in Machine Learning and AI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate research findings.
• Contribute to research that can be applied to Meta product development.
• Publish research results at leading AI/ML conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or has a Master's degree in Machine Learning, AI, Computer Science, Reinforcement Learning, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong background in reinforcement learning and its foundational concepts.
• Ability to implement and run reinforcement learning algorithms in complex environments.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, C, Java, or similar.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks like Pytorch or JAX.
• Research experience in algorithms for sequential decision-making, such as planning or reinforcement learning.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in pursuing a PhD in Machine Learning or AI.
• Research experience in deep reinforcement learning with publications in top workshops or conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML).
• Software engineering experience through internships, work, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.
• Cross-functional communication skills and experience working in teams.
