Project Manager - Defence Simulation

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for a 12-month defence simulation project focused on delivering a next-generation training capability. This project involves developing a highly immersive simulator, integrating specialised hardware controllers with a VR and desktop-based software solution built in Unity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project plans to ensure on-time delivery
• Define and track technical milestones, deliverables, and dependencies
• Coordinate development activities between software engineers, hardware developers, and design teams
• Act as primary point of contact between internal teams, defence stakeholders, and external partners
• Manage customer relationships and project reporting
• Oversee software and hardware component integration
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and security requirements
• Oversee project budgets, procurement, and resource allocation

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in project management within defence, simulation, or software development projects
• Experience running immersive simulation projects including 3D asset creation and game engines
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC), particularly in Unity-based applications
• Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience with stakeholder engagement in defence and government sectors
• Strong risk management, budgeting, and scheduling skills

Desirable Experience

• Experience managing projects involving hardware integration
• Familiarity with FPV UAS, robotics, or aerospace training environments
• Understanding of defence procurement, contracting, and compliance processes
